“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” – Galatians 5:25

The Spirit-filled life is not just one powerful encounter, but a daily walk. The same Spirit who baptizes you also leads, comforts, empowers, and speaks to you every single day. Keeping in step with the Spirit means tuning your heart to His voice, letting His fruit grow in you, and living in constant awareness of His presence. Spirit-filled believers don’t just visit God’s presence; they carry it into every situation they enter. They hunger and thirst to know God more deeply, closely, to be guided by Him every waking moment. To see His will be done on earth, in the lives of people enriched by the Glory of the Lord.

The Christian life is powerful and contains extraordinary moments of God revealing Himself in such a way that you are overwhelmed. There are the “shekinah Glory” moments that we are to participate in and marvel at that touches us deeply. However, the majority of our Christian life and how we interact with God is done in the mundane.

I’m sure you’ve heard the term, particularly among Pentecostal/charismatic folks, “slain in the spirit” where you’re overwhelmed by the weight of God’s presence being felt that you can’t help but fall down. If your spiritual experience does not lead to a changed behavior or habit, then it was just emotional hype.

It’s the daily disciplines that truly lead to a transformed life. If you go to the gym once, you may get all sweaty, wear out your muscles, and feel as if you changed your entire body composition but you won’t wake up tomorrow looking like The Rock. The Rock looks like he does because he made daily decisions and prioritized his health over decades, fam. The same is with our life with the Holy Spirit. It’s the daily, mundane routines that shape and sharpen us to look and live like our Lord.

The truth is grace leaks from us. Presence leaks from us. The power we experience and obtain is left in every room, every conversation, every moment. Therefore, we have to routinely be filled with the Holy Spirit and walk in fresh anointing and fresh oil. And that starts with daily Bible reading and prayer

FOUNDATION PROMPTS:

  • What habits or distractions keep you from being fully Spirit-led?

  • When were you last filled with the Holy Spirit?

  • How can you create more space for the Holy Spirit to speak to you today?
